Solution

  1. The monkey was happy living in the fruit tree, but his happiness was not complete because he was lonely and missed a companion to talk to and share the fruits with. He needed a friend badly.

  2. The monkey’s life on the tree was happy but lonely. Although he had enough to eat, he had no one to talk to. He needed a companion.

  3. The monkey was feeling lonely as there was nobody around to talk to him or to share his fruits.

  4. The clever monkey climbed the tree. He offered some fruits to his friend(crocodile). He declared that they won't meet again.

  5. The crocodile and the monkey were very fond of each other and used to spend a lot of time together. Once the crocodile stayed with the monkey longer than the usual time which made the crocodile's wife very angry.

  6. The monkey was deceived by his friend, the crocodile, so he decided to discontinue his friendship with him. The crocodile invited the monkey for a meal to his home. The monkey agreed, but the crocodile told him in the middle of the river that his wife wanted to eat his heart. The monkey was scared but kept cool. The monkey said he was ready to meet the demand, but he has left his heart on the tree. The foolish crocodile turned back and reached the tree on the river bank. The monkey jumped on the tree and saved his life. He broke his friendship with selfish crocodile.

  7. Although the monkey was scared and distressed when he came to know about his friend's evil intention, he remained cool and sensible like all clever monkeys. He calmly informed the crocodile that he would do anything for him or his family as he was his only friend.  After all what was a monkey’s heart as compared to the life of a crocodile’s wife? But he hadn’t brought his heart along and so asked the crocodile if they could swim back so that he could bring his heart back from the tree. On the river bank, the monkey jumped on to the tree with a deep sigh of relief and thus saved himself.

  8. The crocodile and the monkey was very good friends. The monkey was very generous, and he used to give lots of fresh fruits not only to the crocodile but also for his wife. One day the crocodile returned home late as he was busy chatting with the monkey which, annoyed crocodile's wife a lot. She wanted him to break his friendship with the monkey. So she expressed her desire to eat the monkey’s heart. The crocodile refused his wife's wish but later agreed to her desire. Next day the crocodile carried his friend on his back. In midstream, he disclosed his wife’s plan. The monkey was clever enough to save his life. He told him that he had left his heart behind on the tree. And as the two came back to the tree to fetch monkey's heart, the monkey climbed up the tree and rescued his life.
