Solution

  1. It was customary for the mongoose to run and welcome the farmer’s wife when she returns home.
  2. The farmer had nothing to do in the house and decided to take a look at his fields. He met his friends on the way back.
  3. On returning home from the market, the wife saw the mongoose sitting outside. The face and paws of the mongoose were smeared with blood.
  4. The mongoose killed the snake in the story to save the farmer's child.
  5. On reaching the door of her house, the farmer’s wife saw the mongoose. It looked as if it was waiting for her. On seeing her he ran to welcome her. She saw blood on its mouth and paws.
  6. The farmer told his wife that she needn’t be afraid of the mongoose as it was a friendly animal. It was as sweet as their baby, and they were the best friends.
  7. Within five to six month the mongoose grown into full size but the baby was still a kid. The farmer’s wife was afraid of the mongoose may harm her child and so she didn’t want to leave her baby alone with the mongoose.
  8. A farmer lived in a village with his wife and a small son. The farmer thought that they should have a pet so that after growing up their son doesn't feel the absence of a companion. Thus, in order to give the company to the child, the farmer brought with him a small mongoose. Not only it became a good friend of the infant but also a trusted and affectionate member of the family. One day the mother went to the market. The child was left in the company of the mongoose. The mongoose saw a snake approaching the baby. But before it can harm the baby the mongoose killed it. When the mother came back she saw blood on the mongoose's face and without knowing the truth she smashed the mongoose with her grocery bags which killed the mongoose. Once inside the house, she discovered how the mongoose had saved the child's life. She wept bitterly but in vain.
