Answer key
- (a)
- (d)
- (b)
- (a)
- (a) – (iv), (b) – (iii), (c) – (ii), (d) – (v), (e) – (i).
- 0.20-0.04 %
- aquatic
- atmosphere
- water vapour
- Dry.
- When water vapour comes in contact with a cool surface it condenses and drops of water apper on cool surface. Presence of water on glass containing ice cold water is due to this condensation.
- Atmosphere is the thick layer of gases surrounding the earth. It contains various gases, dust particles and water vapour. It protects us from intense heat and harmful ultraviolet rays and oxygen present in it is essential for respiration of living beings.
- Aquatic organisms obtain the dissolved oxygen present in water. They have gills for respiration. Gills are richly supplied with blood vessels and the blood transports oxygen to every part of the body.
- Uses of air:
- Oxygen present in air used for breathing.
- The nitrogen present in air is essential for the growth of plants.
- A layer of ozone gas present high up in the atmosphere protects us from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun.
- The windmills are run with the help of air to produce electricity.
