Solution
- The author described the valley as 'A paradise that might have been'.
- The rodents and snakes take shelter in roofs, attics and godowns. They do so because their holes are flooded with rainwater.
- Wild balsam, dahlias, begonias and ground orchids begin to appear. The seeds of cobra lily are turning red. These signs show that the monsoons are about to end.
- The writer finds himself lonely during winters because his friend who was with him has gone.
- The monsoon generally begins at the end of June. It generally ends at the end of August or at the beginning of September. We buy raincoats or umbrellas to face the monsoon.
- When there is endless rain for days together, life becomes difficult. To go out becomes difficult. One gets bored living in the room all the time. Everything becomes damp and soggy. The washed clothes do not get dried. Constant rainfall is an invitation for many insects, rodents and snakes to enter the house.
It can also cause diseases. The sun is the source of life. If sunlight doesn’t reach people for a long time, they fall ill. - The mist in the hills provides privacy. Nothing can be seen. The hills are completely surrounded by mist making them silent. The birds sitting on the tree fly away to different places. As soon as the mist surrounds the hills, birds too fall silent.
